Kiana Mousavi Hanjani is a PhD student in Computer Science at Iowa State University. She works in the “Big Data Sciences” lab with Professor Pavan Aduri.
Kiana’s research is focused on Machine Learning techniques used to work with big data sets, especially dynamic networks like social media. She also works on statistical and mathematical approaches to model and sample network graphs. Kiana is currently working on Streaming Algorithms and how to adapt traditional data extraction algorithms to work on data stream models. In 2017, her research won the Best Poster Award in Iowa State University’s annual poster competition.
She earned her B.Sc in Computer Science from the University of Tehran in 2015, and her thesis work was titled “Predicting RNA Secondary Structure Using Heuristic Methods.”
