Xinchu Zhao is the psychometrics intern at ACTNext working with his supervisor, Dr. Benjamin Deonovic. He is a PhD student in statistics at The University of South Carolina and received his BS in mathematics from The University of Macau.
Xinchu’s research interests include Multidimensional Item Response Theory (MIRT) and Bayesian statistics. In his PhD dissertation at The University of South Carolina, he proposed a new MIRT model that allowed for different compensation levels between abilities and a transformation between different ability spaces. In this project, he sped up MCMC estimation of Multidimensional Item Response Theory (MIRT) models greatly by writing R/C++ integration programs and evaluated different goodness of fit statistics for MIRT model selection.
Xinchu is excited about ACT’s mission to help people achieve education and workplace success, and working at ACTNext with their advanced psychometric team. At ACTNext, he is currently working on a network psychometric model for item/skill prerequisite structure findings, and seeks to apply his experience in Bayesian network and MCMC to the project.
