|Abstract: Technology is redefining what it means to succeed in life and work, and even what it means to be human. While most of the 21st century bears little resemblance to the 19th, learning models have yet to undergo the deep redesign necessary to become versatile, adaptable, and encompass all four dimensions of knowledge, skills, character and meta-learning (aka 21st century skills and social-emotional learning). The role of assessments is pivotal and they will play a transformative role: summative assessments can provide new “scorecards” to drive change at all education levels, from K-12 through to workforce development, while formative assessments will scaffold the learner in all their dimensions during lifelong learning. In this keynote session, Charles Fadel will help us all understand how together we can meet the challenges of the 21st century.|
